How Many Letters?

This simple module presents a picture and asks the user to decide how many letters the corresponding word has. It’s not uncommon for people with aphasia to be unable to write a word but nevertheless to have some latent knowledge about it in terms of the length of the word. This exercise taps that knowledge.

Clinical experience shows that knowledge of the written form of words (orthographic knowledge) plays a major role in underpinning spoken word retrieval. So any progress with written word retrieval has the potential to improve spoken word retrieval too.

By default, How Many Letters is set to advance automatically to the necxt question as soon as the decision has been made. As with all modules you can change this in the exercise settings.
